Baptism Gifts

In giving a Baptism present, you’ll want to give the celebrant something that will last a lifetime and that will constantly remind them of this special event.  Some ideas for a memorable and meaningful Baptism gift include:

A Blanket:

Whether it is homemade or purchased, a personalized blanket carries particular meaning.  It can be used while the child is still a baby and then displayed throughout the child’s life.  You can choose from any number of colors and textures, from soft cotton to pure silk.  In order to make this truly unique, you may wish to include the child’s name or initials embroidered in the blanket.  Also, if you’d like this to be a religious gift, consider embroidering a favorite Bible verse or the date of the Baptism.

A Crucifix:

Perfect for displaying in the child’s bedroom or anywhere else in the home, a first crucifix makes a wonderful and sacred gift.  Crucifixes come in many sizes and styles.  You may wish to choose one carved from wood or one forged from pure silver.  If you’d like you can even create your own crucifix out of lace, ribbon, or other materials.  You can purchase a design template for these at your local craft store.

A Prayer Frame:

Print your favorite prayer, particularly one asking for a blessing for the child, on parchment paper and include the date of the child’s first Baptism.  You may even wish to include the child’s handprint and then frame the paper in a silver frame.  The frame may include an angel or other religious figure and may even have the word “Baptism” inscribed in it.
