Christening Party Supplies and Decorations

When throwing a party, it is always important to make a list of all the items you’ll need.  A christening party is no exception.  Follow these simple guidelines when determining what christening  party supplies you’ll want to acquire in order to throw the perfect celebration.

Christening Party Supplies:  Tableware

First you’ll need to decide if you’ll be serving a meal at the party.  If so, be sure there are plenty of tables and chairs for guests to sit in.  You may wish to rent these from a local party supply store.  You’ll also want to get tablecloths to cover each table.  Disposable table cloths are always easy, as they can be gathered up and thrown away at the end of the party.  (They also come in any number of shapes and colors.)  Then, order place settings for each person.  This should include dishes (plates, cups, and bowls if needed), napkins, and silverware.  Adding a favor that is also decorative, like these angel candles will also enhance the look of your tables.

There are many stores and online websites that sell items imprinted paper tableware with a christening theme.  It is most cost-effective to use solid color tablecloths and plates and create decorations for the tables.

Christening  Party Decorations: Table and Room

Your tableware should match the color scheme and/or design of the rest of your party decorations.  If you’ll be holding the party indoors, then you’ll want to determine if you can use the wall space to put up decorations (such as large baby pictures and banners).  If you’d like, you can visit your local craft store and create your own decorations.  Or, as an alternative, you can order personalized decorations online or order bulk decorations at any party store.  These  personalized trinket holders serve as decorations and favors.

In addition to wall hangings, you may wish to have balloons in each corner and possibly an ornate entryway.  Also, consider centerpieces for each table, or at least the food and beverage tables.  This may be anything from flowers in vases to pictures of the child and his or her parents and godparents.   Metallic cross confetti and mini ceramic crosses are nice touches.

Christening Decorations:  Dessert Table

A useful and attractive addition to any party is a dessert table.  While the highlight of the table may be the christening cake, you can also include finger desserts for guests to enjoy.  (The cake should always take a center position and should highlight the reason for the celebration, as well as the name of the guest of honor.)  These may include cookies in the shape of crosses or angels, cupcakes, and even individualized candy bags.  For candy bags, include large jars of various colored candy and provide cellophane bags with silk ribbons.  Guests may then create bags to take home as favors.  This is especially popular for younger guests.
