Graduation Party Ideas 2014

Graduation Party Ideas 2014

If you need 2014 graduation party ideas for a deserving student, take a look at the sweet table created by Paula of Party by Paula.  She is a professional party planner and designer and was nice enough to allow me to show off her latest creation.

Graduation Backdrop – The focal point of this lovely dessert table is the custom backdrop with the graduate’s name.  If you are lucky enough to live near Bloomington/ Normal, Illinois, you can hire her to create not only the backdrop but the entire table.    If not, there are so many creative ideas that you can use when designing your own graduation table decorations.

College or High School Spirit – Orange and black happen to the be the school colors and they are incorporated in all of the decorations from the sign and sweets to the table banner.  A backdrop really makes the entire table pop and you can create one that simply rests on a back wall.  (When my sister got married, I had a poster made of my sister and her fiance at a local printer and lightly taped it to a wall.)    One of the things that Paula does really well is to vary the height of her decorations.  This really makes her displays so inviting and interesting.

Decorations – Tall black buckets with natural grass house circular orange white and black striped circles.    These same decorations are attached to the backdrop at different heights.

Grad Cake – The centerpiece is the 2014 graduation cake placed on a clear glass cake plate and pedestal.  I like that the plate is clear, as it really allows the brightly colored cake with fun decorations to be the star of the show.  Speaking of stars, silver ones spring out of the cake signifying the rising star new graduate.  (Or maybe they are just fun and elegant cake decorations.)

Sweet Treats – What is a dessert table without the goodies.  Here is a photo of some of them close up.

Mini cupcakes with graduation theme toppers really dress up the sweets, as do the orange and white labels identifying the various desserts.    Paula has an Etsy store with many printables which you can find on the top of her website..

Just about all of the treats are placed in clear containers showing off the orange and or black sweets.  Cake pops are placed in a clear vase filled with orange Sixlets.  This is a creative and effective way to keep desserts on a stick upright.    These candies also provide a colorful base for the mini cupcakes.  You can use any type of small colorful round candy or gum.

The tablecloth is white with orange and black hanging decorations at the bottom.

There you have it, a beautiful dessert table from top to bottom!
